The American Gilded Age was a period of immense economic change, when huge fortunes were made and spent. Wealthy families like the Vanderbilts owned country estates where they could decamp in the spring and fall from the rigors of New York City life. Dr. Darden will provide fascinating insight into the lives of the Vanderbilt-Twombly family and their New Jersey country estate, located not far from Greenwood in Morris County.
